Privacy Policy

MemoryTag may collect or store the information needed to run the site and keep memories organised, including:

• account details such as username and email address
• memories submitted by users
• uploaded photos and audio files
• tags, dates and locations added to memories
• profile display name and profile photograph
• favourites, private drafts and member notifications
• technical information such as IP address or browser details where WordPress or security tools collect them
• cookies required for login and basic WordPress site functions

This information may be used to:

• create and manage user accounts
• allow users to submit and manage memories
• review memories before publication
• display published memories
• help keep the site secure
• send password reset or account emails through WordPress
• create private approval and memory-connection notifications for members

Private drafts are only shown to the member who created them and authorised administrators. A submitted memory is intended for public display once approved. Published stories, photographs, audio, display names, tags, dates and locations may be seen by visitors and shared using their public web address.

Favourites, account email addresses and member notifications are not displayed publicly. Published memories may remain visible until they are edited, removed or unpublished. Members can request correction, account help or removal from the site owner.

Voice dictation creates editable text. Browser recording creates an audio file only when the member chooses to record and submit it. Microphone access is controlled by the member and their browser.

More cookie or analytics details can be added later if analytics or advertising tools are installed.

Terms of Use

MemoryTag is a place for respectful sharing. By submitting content, users agree to use the site thoughtfully and responsibly.

• Use the site respectfully.
• Do not upload anything unlawful, abusive, threatening, hateful, defamatory, deliberately misleading or invasive of someone else's privacy.
• Do not upload photos, audio or stories you do not have permission to share.
• You are responsible for the content you submit.
• By submitting a memory, you give MemoryTag permission to store and display that content as needed to operate the service. You keep ownership of your original content.
• MemoryTag may review, edit, reject or remove content if needed.
• Access may be limited or removed if someone abuses the site.

MemoryTag is provided as a memory-sharing project. Although reasonable care is taken, no guarantee is made that the site will always be available or that submitted material can never be lost. Keep your own copies of important photographs, recordings and stories.

Community Guidelines

A few considerate choices help MemoryTag remain welcoming and safe for everyone:

• Share memories kindly and respectfully.
• Be careful when naming other people.
• Avoid sharing sensitive private information about yourself or others.
• Do not upload private family photos unless you have permission.
• Do not upload audio of someone else without permission.
• Avoid posting exact addresses, phone numbers, financial information or other private details.
• Remember that published memories may be visible to other visitors.
• Check photographs for private documents, addresses, school details or other information visible in the background.
• Choose helpful tags that allow others to find and connect memories.
• Report or request removal if something should not be public.
