Saturdays as a teen in Rhyl

It was the 80s and every Saturday we used to meet up outside the wimpy in Rhyl High Street. The wimpy did the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. They actually tasted of meat unlike the fast food nowadays!

After eating the largest cheeseburger they had we would go look round the White Rose Centre. From what i can remember, there was a HMV when you walked through the double doors, Dixons, Top Shop then walk down through Woolworths. Oh and a sports shop before you walked through the doors.

We used to go and buy a box of little bangers from the old Queens market. I never knew the history of the old market, i always used to say how the floor was really springy when you walked on it. Years later found out it was one of the first spring laden dance floors in Europe!

If you looked up the stairs there was a Gypsy Rose Lee!

We then proceeded to go to the top car park of the white rose and drop the bangers from above and hide. Youth huh 🙂

When we ran out of bangers it was off to the arcades to lose our pocket money in super line up, rat race fruit machines finishing off with a game of commando.

I miss those days….
