Interesting find the other day on Rhyl History Club website. I remember in the 80s there was a large Pet Shop named ‘William Roberts’ at the bottom of the bridge in Rhyl. I was shocked to learn that it was originally on the opposite side of the road where the cinema ended up!
They had huge windows and you could see the rabbits etc when it was closed as they were in the windows. I don’t think they sold puppies although i could be mistaken. I know a small pet shop in Abergele did in the 80s.
Used to walk in their with my Mum, Aunt Nell and Sister, you would see all the birds in their cages and the smell was so overpowering.
It’s a shame as last time I was in Rhyl (about 9 years ago) they had sold/leased half of the shop which was an overpriced tacky games exchange kind of shop.
I wonder what the older generation would have thought how it ended up.
